bucket questions

I have a couple of questions for the resto people.

I need some help on id'ing the proper set of bucket seats and console used for a 1968 C10 (sw). Pics would be great.

I've also read that I will need a big hump T-cover for my turbo 400. And I was told there was a difference in the firewall on the big block trucks. Is this true?

I don't think there is a difference in the firewall, just the low-hump, high-hump option. I'm sure someone will chime in with the pics of the correct buckets!

BTW, welcome to the site from we-never-have-winter-southern Arizona!!! It was almost shorts weather here today!!! :)

I just got off work and it was a breezy 30 degrees and yesterday it was in the teens but they say we may be back in the 50's for xmas. Gotta love Texas.

Re: bucket questions

My 69 came from the factory with a TH 400 and low hump, so I know it will fit. I really don't know for sure why they put the larger hump in some trucks?

Re: bucket questions

The hump difference is low (built in)or high (removeable)... BUT, 2WD bigblocks have a slightly shorter high hump than 4WD. 2WD small blocks and six cylinders had the low hump.

You are looking for buddy buckets as described in that link but those are 67 pattern, not 68 pattern.

These are 68's.

Re: bucket questions

this is always confusing for some reason.
High hump floors came in;
all 4 speed trucks, regardless of engine
All 4X4 trucks, regardless of tranny
All big block/TH400 trucks
All other trucks, got low hump.

There were a handfull of thucks that broke the last rule out of the factory, and then a handfull of trucks that should have had the low hump, that snuck out with a high hump.... but the rule from GM was as outlined above.
