front axle swap
i have a 67' k10 and i am looking to put a front axle out of a mid to late 70's chev pikup with disk brakes and was wondering if the front axels where the same length thanks

Yes.

Re: front axle swap
are the perches the same also

Re: front axle swap
Yep. Only thing you might need to address is the brake lines - the ends are sometimes different. You can use adapters to mate the newer axle's rubber lines to your hard line or make a new set of hard lines like I did.
I see you have a 67 - that has the closed knuckle axle so you'll want the newer axle's steering arm since your steering arm is different. |
Re: front axle swap

Re: front axle swap
Are you getting the axle from a donor truck? If so and if it has power steering, I'd go ahead and grab those related parts if you are thinking of adding power steering at some point. Thanks for the compliments on my truck - it is currently transfer case-less - grrr.

Re: front axle swap
Don’t forget to change the brake proportioning valve and master cylinder when you convert to front disk brakes.
$100 is a good score for a 4x4 Suburban. Regardless of condition it is worth more than that in scrap weight. |
