Gauge Interchange Questions

Does anybody know what gauges from what years will swap with others? I have a 76-77 Tach cluster, and will be looking for NOS or super nice original GM pieces.

Here are my thoughts so far, please correct me when needed.

Oil Pressure gauge can only be from a 73-77, because of it being mechanical, or is 73-75 out for some reason?

Volt gauge from a 76-up

Temp, Fuel, Tach, and Speedo gauges from any 73-87(91)?

I am really hesitant about putting one together, but I figure I can use the info if I decide to. Thanks

Yeah, I have that but it doesn't answer any of the questions I have.

Everything you've said is correct, however, in 80 or 81, the look of the gauges changed. Functionally, things will interchange, but the look will be different.

Also, 73-74 had no blue lines on the speedometer and tach like later clusters do.

It really depends on how picky you are. There are different configurations for each year as well as changes from year to year. If you want to have a "correct" dash for your truck, get pics from brochures, etc to determine exactly what combo is correct.

Did you read the tech articles My dad put together years ago? All the info you need should be in there. If you do swap around some gauges and stuff in there only a true expert on these clusters will notice when its in the truck.

73-75
76-77
78-79

Were all their own years. 80 up are all interchangeable except 1980 was still the old Font on the gauges and 73-80 had a 100mph speedo. 81up had a 85mph speedo but I prefer the 81 up Font on the gauges better then the earlier years.
