71-72 Style gas pedal

Is there any trick to adjusting the travel of the cable style gas pedals? I can't see any way to do it.

In my 72 Blazer the pedal is already on the carpet before I lay my foot on it, I have to really jam it down to get anywhere. Good for saving gas I guess but the truck don't go very fast. Anyone run into this problem before?

Bend the upper rod of the gas pedal above the hinge away from the firewall. That will raise the gas pedal and give you more travel.

first, double check the throttle brackets. There should be a piece bolted to the intake where the outer cable plugs into and the inner cable comes out and hooks to the carb. On my burb that sucker kept popping off on my trip home from Washington and I could only get 1/2 throttle.
