Hidden hitch + Fuel cell guy tank???

OK fellers! I'm trying to find out if the Early Classic Enterprises hidden hitch and Fuel Cell guys tank are compatible. I've been PMing Mark (Fuel cell guy) about the details of his product and he has been extremely helpful! He was however unable to confirm 100% that his product would work in conjuction with a hidden hitch. So...What can you guys tell/show us?? I've been poking around with our search feature and found some iffy information. Some posts claimed that crossmembers would have to be removed to use the tank and an ECE crossmember or hidden hitch would have to be added to use the tank. Some other posts I saw stated that none of the crossmembers would have to be modified but made no mention of using a hidden hitch. So, Show us what you got! Tell us how you did it! Are you running an ECE hitch and a Fuel Cell guy tank? Speak up and be heard!

Thanks guys!

Well....That answers that question doesn't it!! Did you weld the nuts on to the frame that hold it all together?

Thanks!

I haven't yet. I will probably do something similar to my ECE tank setup. It had some bolts that were welded to a 1/8" steel plate that would quit spinning when it hit the tank or the frame.

I'm actually wondering the same thing, but with the ECE hidden hitch & the poly replacement suburban tank in a swb.

Re: Hidden hitch + Fuel cell guy tank???

here is a little help/pics
it works no problem...only peice that needs to be modded/removed is the spare tire cross member.....also pending on the size of the tank you may need to move the rear most x-member back....

This link is to page 7 of his build...there is also some info on page 6.

It looks to me like the fuel cell comes without any mounting holes, correct? It also looks like you guys are using two of the holes for the hitch and then adding a couple more that are just for the tank. Am I in the ballpark?

Re: Hidden hitch + Fuel cell guy tank???

I'm not sure but I think all of these tanks pictured are from board member/vendor "fuelcellguy" or http://www.aluminumfuelcell.com/ . The trailer hitch is from ECE which is Early Classic Enterprises or www.earlyclassic.com .

Even adds a bit of protection around the tank, nice.
