Big block 3 speed combo?

My 68 has as 6cyl and a 3 speed (Saginaw). The 6cyl needs rebuilt, but the 3 speed is in great shape. I have a good 454 big block, can I drop that in place of the 6 cyl keeping the 3 speed? The reason I ask is that it’s the cheapest way to go V8 and it’s what I have. What are the potential issues any heads up before I tackle it this spring? Thanks

they did come stock with that combo... but I have no clue what 3 speed was used. Yours may go bad with the quickness

The big block will fit, you will need Big Block motor mounts and the frame might need to be trimmed due to the exhaust clearance :gmc2:

enjoy the build
