Dropped...now wheel interference!

We just dropped our '77 C10 with DJM 3-inch spindles and 2 inch springs in front. The old Krager 15 inch wheels have some slight (bout 1/16 inch) interference with the spindles. Will 16 inch wheels fit or will I have to go with 17's? Anyone have to deal with this problem?

The top of the spindle casting that holds the calipers is rubbing on the inside of the wheel. I could probably grind some material off and it would fit. What do you think?

i've never heard of spindles messing with the wheels, but the lower control arms rub on 15" wheels if you have 3" drop spindles. you just have to trim the part that touchs off, but i dont know about the spindles

3" drop spindles tend have that problem, but not the 2.5" spindles.

Just found the on-line installation instructions that were not in the box. Says on '77-'83 to grind the casting if it interferes. Thanks to 78Silverado...I think...for reminding me about those.

Your're welcome. :D I recently bought DJM 3" drop spindles too and would probably have the same problem as your having now when I get around to have them installed. Just remember previous posts about this very subject. :bowtie:

It all went together pretty easily. I needed a ball joint removal kit which is free on loan from Schucks in our area, which is nice. I had to bend the brake line tubing a little to clear the top spindle nut on both sides. Other than that and the grinding it was pretty straight forward.
