Intake ports

installing a performer eps manifold and eld 1406 carb, 71 c10, 350,hei

There is a port on the manifold and on the heads, in between the two center bolts the gasket has that port coverd up and I thought I might need to cut it out. Talked to someone that told me that those center ports are for Q-jets application and not needed for my application, he said to just covet the ports with the gasket. Can anyone confirm this info and maybe give some education to me on it, thank you

Re: Intake ports

i think your talking about the heat crossover// for performance leave blocked, winter use in cold weather climates it aids in driveability

Re: Intake ports

heat goes from one head to the other heating bottom of the manifold to heat the gas mixture ,less time on choke better drivability at some loss of power// blocked off it gives you a denser fuel charge and more raw horsepower but with a loss of smoothness that a heated charge gives you// a somewhat happier comprimise instead of full open gaskets is 3/8holes in gasket allowing partial flow thru the riser

Re: Intake ports

Every time I've replaced an intake or gaskets I just use the recommendation from the gasket manufacturer. I believe there should be a flier in the box or something.
