Steering box question
 

Can I use my manual steering box when i switch to power steering ? Wasn't sure if there were a couple plugs to remove for the lines or not. Probably need to buy a used P/S box to match right?

No, and you can't put a shifter knob on that has a 5th gear painted on and expect to have 5 gears :-) (reality check)

The Manual box is smaller. I would go to a junkyard and get the whole setup. Pump, bracket, Hoses, Steering box, pitman, and you will probably need the rubber flex disc or rag joint that goes between the box and the steering shaft as the one on a power system is bigger.

I replaced my 72 power steering box with a 76 unit. The 76 did have the pitman arm already on it. I used all of the 72 steering column parts. I used the 72 power steering pump and lines. Everything bolted together as if I was using the 72 power steering box. Alignment, as per standard sepcs, drives without any problems. I did add a steering stabilizer unit.

I tried to use a 73-86 power steering pump, this would not work, as the mounting bracket is different than the 72. Also, I would check the pully's on the crankshaft to be sure there is a pully for the additional belt, and correct pully alignment, for the power steering pump. Have no idea for the steering column shaft, could be a possible difference in lenght ?
