Q-Jet Misbehavin'. Why?
Well, after adjusting my carb to where she seems to run ok ... she's still a little finicky. She tends to want to idle high until I "reset" by goosing the throttle, in gear. There's little or no smoking or pinging so I'm pretty close anyway. Any ideas? I'm also getting sh*t MPG, about 9 or 10 where I used to get 13. Could the Torker manifold be to blame? It's a 350 with a mild cam and I think the carb is a 650, not sure on that one. When I swapped motors, I just cleaned the carb up a bit and readjusted, no kit or anything. Any help would be appreciated.

How's your timing?

Pretty darn close. While I don't know what cam I have exactly, I good Chevy mechanic helped me set it with a light. I think it ended up at 10 BTDC, but I wouldn't swear to it.I was just so happy to hear it start and idle. hehe

When you cleaned and adjusted the carb, what did you do? If you just hosed it with cleaner you might have broke loose some crud that has found its way down into carb.

Unless you have a motor that spends most of its time at a drag strip, I would be using the torker manifold for a doorstop. With a mild cam, stock compression, etc they really suck. You would be better off with a stock manifold. As a bandaid you can run a bunch of timing with a single plane manifold, proably more than the starter will tolerate. That might get your gas mileage back up a little
