700R4 Question

I have a 71 GMC 4x4 with a th350. How hard would it be to put in a 700R4? I have a 205 trans. case

It is a fairly simple exchange. I did it in my stepside. You just need to make sure that you put in a shortened trans shaft which is available from Advance Adapters. It will then bolt right up to your TH350/205 adapter.

What about the crossmember, did you have to move it?

Yes, I did have to move the crossmember. I did a few changes at once so I knew that I would have to move it. I put in a BBC and moved the engine crossmember forward to move the distributor away from the firewall. I also changed from a rockwell TC to a 205. It is easy to move and redrill the TC crossmember. The hardest part is figuring out where to drill the holes for the TC stabilizing mount on the passenger side.
