After many years finally getting going

Here it's been 5 years of a combination of procrastination, time, working on other projects ........ya I know blah blah :waah:
Well damn it! I'm serious:sumo:
Frames done .A arm bushings installed , brakes rebuilt ,power steering box in ( had old ram assist ) Painted cab .
Rebuilt t400. Installed crate 350 with stock ram horns. My plan is to make it back close to stock as possible and drive it.
Here is a few pics. Only thing that was a stumbling block is the pulleys. Read a lot about all the combinations for these engines, but I found a correct power steering pump pulley and now need to get the water pump 2 grove and crank 3 groove.

A short pump with power steering, so need a 3 groove crank and a 2 groove water/alt/ac

Re: After many years finally getting going

Got going again. Started to mock up and gets some new parts.
Went down to Classic Industries 20% off sale Saturday, picked up glass rubber, new fender emblems and a bunch of little items.
Repaired steering wheel and painted it body color.
Installed head lights with new adjusting screws and plastic nuts as well as new springs. Stripped and painted radiator mount.
Painted fan shroud, and valve covers after removing the plug wire holder built in at factory. Engine is a new 350 crate 290 hp with HEI.
Also mock up radio and old style AM/FM cassette radio.
Here is where I screwed up. Went to a lot of trouble to get some nice original Ram Horn manifolds, and had new pipes made up just to find out the crate 350 requires 2 1/2"exhaust. Found out the manifolds are 2" .:dohh: Hope this won't choke engine down too much.

Yep, it is sitting on top of dash you can see the edge of it just left of the wheel. I just stuck the wheel up for the picture, still have a few things to do with the power steering box before the steering is set.

The paint is a special mix I had a shop mix up.... I like it :chevy:
The manifolds are not painted I just bead blasted them, but will apply a coating called Calyx it is a brush on material that resists heat and will be darker color.

That is the plan after I get the engine all set to fire.
I will be searching for methods to do it, any suggestions ?

It shouldn't be too bad as long as you use a muffler that's not too restrictive and keep the bends nice and smooth....
It will cut down on peak HP but won't hurt it too bad.

If you're really worried you can always sell them to someone to recoup your investment and look for some headers/other exhaust...

Thanks for the positive thought . I think what I'll do is buy a nice set of 2 1/2"
turbo mufflers, and go back a few feet on the 2' pipe already built and install a step up. Then run 2 1/2" to mufflers.
Gases expand and actually pull exhaust similar to the two stroke expansion chambers. Not knowing what the formula is,
I'll just experiment and see what happens.

Messing a little more with the 68, but stopped to build a one truck garage for it.
There are other pics of it but here is exterior.
Past few days I have been dry fitting parts in storage for so long, I forgot
how they go together:lol:
More wiring to sort and finnish engine, should be able to fire it soon.
Note to moderator: should this thread be moved to "Build section" ?
