windshield doesn't fit

the guy came to put in the windshield for my truck. he got it al in but the gasket puckers in the curves along the top. he said he thinks it's the glass that is not bent correctly so he's looking for another manufacturer and see if that fixes the problem. Anybody got any Ideas? the glass that he brought says lamishield.

The glass may not be the problem. On my 72, I was supplied with the wrong style windshield rubber and the same thing happened as you described when the windshield was installed.

How long has he been installing windshields? These are really tough to get in and seated like they should be. The windshield looks as if it has the wrong bend in it and the lower corners are a real B%tch to get right. Double check that the gasket is correct.

windshield

i think the installer is just not seasoned well, ibroke 2,and a friend who has done windshields for 20years broke 2,before we got it,and we had new rubber, they just arent easy, try warming the strip up very warm.

I called a windshield place here in WV and they sent a guy out that had never done a windshield in one of our trucks. Needless to say, he broke it trying to put it in. After they order a new one the guy that owned the company came out and put it in, he got it in but the rubber tore on one corner so he ordered another rubber and got it right after 3 trys. There's a guy that lives near me that can put one in with his eyes closed in 5 or 10 minutes. He has about 5 or 6 trucks now. He did have a lot more but I talked him in to selling a few of them (I bought one). I told him the reason our trucks are hard to find around here is because he had them all!

the gasket usualy puckers because the trim isnt in the groove correctly, did he tape the trim into the rubber? is it new rubber? usualy if you loop the rope at the top and bottom it helps to pull the corners lots of lube helps too! i do glass and have done way too many of these to count i have seen almost all goofy stuff with these including the so called new trim (doesn't fit too well btw)good luck !!!
if you have questions holler i can try to help?
