Take your time, take pics,... and look at all the associated parts for defects and wear.
Nows the time to replace any bad brake or steering components.

Also use jack stand or a lift, and eye protection when cutting or grinding.
If you have any questions along the way,... don't be afraid to ask.

Welcome to the board.
Also,... what is this drop going on?

.

oh yea i know that. i've lifted and lowered trucks before. just if there were any tips on the flip kit or whatever. and yea where the truck is, is in my grandparents garage. there's every kind of mechanics/car/engine tools you can think of.

okay, i'll have to check the steering. from what i know its fine. but its doesnt hurt to check again i guess.

the drop is going on a 78 chevy c10.
thanks man!

Good luck with the install as I recently did a similar install on my '69. As long as you have all the pieces the install should be a breeze. Keep us posted on your progress.

Start soaking the assorted threaded items now w/some penetrating oil so that when you're ready to start the parts swap, you've free'd-up any potentially stuck hardware (which is always better than fighting it for 1/2 the day).

Take pics so you can reference how things were (just in case).

I'm a big "neverseize" user also. I use it on all my bolted connections.

The only advice I have is to box those parts back up and send them to me. I'll PM you my address. :)

Seriously, take measurements before you start. What I do is write the initial measurements from the ground to the wheel arches on a small piece of painter's tape and stick it to the fender/quarter panel above each wheel opening (less chance of losing the measurements).

This product is actually used when you are reassembling the pieces on your truck, and helps to ensure they "never seize" on your truck again. That way when you decide to go with bags (you know you wil... :D) the pieces will come apart like that.

This is a good idea, whether you put it on tape or not. Write down your measurements for all four corners as well as the measurements for the rearend being centered. You definitely want to make sure the pieces you received provide you with the correct amount of drop, and you also want to be able to track down the road straight. :D

by the way, the steering column, booster brake and master cylinder are fresh too!

Re: look what came in the mail!

you would see a lot more rake if you had the weight of the drive train and front clip on it! I did this drop on an 84 I had a few years ago...don't be suprised if you intend on using the stock ralley that they contact the control arms...you will have to do a bit of grinding on them if want to keep wheel weights on the fronts...lol. Good luck with your build!
Get several buddies around to help with the rear, getting the rear end on top of the springs is a giant pita!
