Re: look what came in the mail!
Take your time, take pics,... and look at all the associated parts for defects and wear.
Nows the time to replace any bad brake or steering components. Also use jack stand or a lift, and eye protection when cutting or grinding. If you have any questions along the way,... don't be afraid to ask. Welcome to the board. Also,... what is this drop going on? . |

Re: look what came in the mail!
Good luck with the install as I recently did a similar install on my '69. As long as you have all the pieces the install should be a breeze. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: look what came in the mail!
Start soaking the assorted threaded items now w/some penetrating oil so that when you're ready to start the parts swap, you've free'd-up any potentially stuck hardware (which is always better than fighting it for 1/2 the day).
Take pics so you can reference how things were (just in case). |

I'm a big "neverseize" user also. I use it on all my bolted connections.

Re: look what came in the mail!
The only advice I have is to box those parts back up and send them to me. I'll PM you my address. :)
Seriously, take measurements before you start. What I do is write the initial measurements from the ground to the wheel arches on a small piece of painter's tape and stick it to the fender/quarter panel above each wheel opening (less chance of losing the measurements). |

Re: look what came in the mail!
overall the front was pretty easy except both the blown lower ball joints which were total b*tches to get out. it took a lil under 3 hours just do do front. we will be doing the rear either thursday or friday.
took lots of pictures too front suspension before http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2974.jpg rear suspension before http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2975.jpg stance before the drop http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2976.jpg front left before new parts. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2977.jpg blown lower ball joint! http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2978.jpg bad time for a blown lower ball joint. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2979.jpg had to take the lower control arm off to get the ball joint out. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2980.jpg everything almost back together. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2981.jpg yes i know i need new rotors! http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMG_2983.jpg |

Re: look what came in the mail!
by the way, the steering column, booster brake and master cylinder are fresh too!
|
Re: look what came in the mail!
you would see a lot more rake if you had the weight of the drive train and front clip on it! I did this drop on an 84 I had a few years ago...don't be suprised if you intend on using the stock ralley that they contact the control arms...you will have to do a bit of grinding on them if want to keep wheel weights on the fronts...lol. Good luck with your build!
Get several buddies around to help with the rear, getting the rear end on top of the springs is a giant pita! |
