Ignition lock help
Hi all,
I have a 1978 Chevy pickup and I need to replace the ignition lock on the column. I have the column completely taken apart, but I cannot get the cylinder out. All the resources I have found show a screw underneath the turn signal assembly but this truck has no screw anywhere near the cylinder, either above or below. Its a 4x4 and automatic. Can anyone help? Thanks! Colby. |
Re: Ignition lock help
34, there is supposed to be a screw in there, should be a torx head. If not, someone may have changed the colunm with an earlier one. In that case look for a slot that would be near where the cylinder would end. The slot is about 1/2" long and 1/8" wide. It may be filled or covered with a very thin cast in plastic cover in the recess. Use a flat blade screw driver and with your hand punch thru it. Then push down, that will release the cylinder. jim

Yo! Been there! Try this link:
