bench to buckets swap(help)
 

i havent been able to(surprisingly) find any info on doing a bench seat swap to a set of buckets.

i have a 83 c10 regular cab with a bench. i was given a set of beautiful buckets and conosole out of a 85 k5 blazer.

before i go ripping out my bench is there anything i should know? is this a straight forward swap. unbolt the bolts to the floor, pull bench and bolt in new buckets?

as i've learned nothing ever goes easy. hopefully someone can chime in soon. want to get cracking on the truck today. lot of things to do, but want to do the seats first.

There are two seat brackets that are welded to the floor that you need from the blazer.

Actually the Blazer brackets won't work due to the floor design.

I have been told by those that have done the swap that you either need a set of truck floor tabs, or a set of Suburban brackets. The Burb brackets will need some tweaking, but can be made to fit.

We're talking about two different things here.

1. You need the floor tabs that weld to the floor for the inner front of the seat slider on the driver's side and the inner front mounting bracket on the passenger side. You'll find these in a burb with buckets or a pickup with buckets.

Factory pickup buckets had a fixed passenger seat the mounted on four separate brackets. The drivers side had two rails similar to what you see on a bench seat.

2. Suburban bucket sliders are kinda close to the pickup ones, but the tab on the back of the mounting rails bends down to match the sub floor pan rather than up to match the pickup floor pan. They can be modified to fit.

3. Blazer bucket sliders are much different, much taller and not a good starting point to fit buckets to a pickup.

4. The SEATS themselves, unbolted from the brackets, can be made to fit all the different sliders. At most you'll have to drill some holes to match the different seat frames. So, the nice ones you found will work.

thanks for the reply's. this was a total failure.:banghead:

seats are mint, along with the console. i pulled my bench out and instantly knew it wasnt going to work. blazer seats almost hit the roof lol. back to square one. might just settle for trying to nab a nice burban rear seat and hope that bolts right in.

Like ElGracho said, you just need some 'burb seat tracks and the nice buckets you have will work with some mods. Since you need the tab from a 'burb anyway you will already have the seats off and it will be easy to grab the tracks...

Exactly. The Blazer floorpan is flat, and the truck and Sub floorpan has the hump to clear the fuel tanks (at least that's what it is for in the pickup). Find a burb with buckets in a junkyard, and just grab teh tracks and inner floor tabs. The tabs are welded in place, so you might have to get a bit of floor, too.

mine had custom buckets and had a special looks very home made brackets can take a pic of its any help for some home grown
