Frame parts and brackets
 

Have a feeling these won't be easy to find, but are frame parts and/or brackets available from vendors or GM? Or will it be a trip(s) to the salvage yard? Also, crossmembers and some brackets are riveted in place. Can frame shops reproduce these rivets, or is it a nut and bolt only replacement option? Thanks in advance.

On your parts, it is either the junk yard or post your needs on the board. I have not seen any new parts for sale in the catalogs or sites.

I am not aware of rivets that will work in the frame although if you had access to a cold header and the right tooling they could be formed easily.

I have 1/2 and 3/4 ton frame parts for 48-72, also can get you new rivets. e-mail the parts you need.

Back when I was in the military:flag: I worked as a truck mechanic,a bulletin came out that we were to inspect every rivet on every truck for sings of looseness.The inspection was a visual one,if you saw light rust residue around the head of the rivet you knew that it was loose enough to be chaffing against the chassis or the crossmember.We replaced all of these with grade 8 hardware torqued to specs.I'm just saying this for you to consider,if it was me and I had to replace a crossmember I would go with the grade 8 bolts,if it was for a restoration the I would use the rivets.When you look at it those rivets are keeping the integrity of your frame together,there's a lot riding on them.HF

I have used lug studs in reamed-to-size holes. They look like a rivet from the outside, are pressed into place, and held on with fine thread nuts. Grade 8 would work, too, if they were an interference fit.
