Lowering my 71 c-10 with leaf spring rear end
I want to lower my 71 c-10, but it has a leaf spring rear and the only thing Ive found so far is to buy new springs from CPP. but tht would set me back $400.Id like to drop the rear 4". Has anybody else done this and if so what did you use? Also someone told me that its rare to have leaf springs on a c-10 2wd, Is this true? Thanks for any help

Re: Lowering my 71 c-10 with leaf spring rear end
You can have your springs de-arched by a shop, or try removing a few leafs. You can also use shackles to lower it by 2".

ECE (Early Classic Enterpises) also sells a drop leaf spring and a drop shackle.

Re: Lowering my 71 c-10 with leaf spring rear end
Axle flip would probably be cheapest. Leafs aren't as common as coils in 2wd most people say all GMC's are leaf and Chevys are coil I have found that not to be true. I have a 68 GMC with leafs and its lowered with a axle flip and C-notch.

Re: Lowering my 71 c-10 with leaf spring rear end
I did a flip kit when I had leafs and it gave me about a 5 inch drop. While I had it apart I added 1.5" drop shackles and a c-notch too. Its bagged now.

Re: Lowering my 71 c-10 with leaf spring rear end
I bought the lowered leafs for my 71 cheyenne. They are not re-arched, instead they use a reversed eye on the rear. I also took the helper spring out.The wheel wells are exactly 30" from ground to center of wheelwell with 275/60/15. They fit perfect. Hope this helps
