Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
4 Attachment(s)
I thinking about 4" lift and some 35's...will that combo work without rubbing?
I have been told the truck is not a factory 67-72 4x4 frame but a 70's Blazer conversion.....I dont know the difference by sight. What do I look for or what can I take a picture of the figure out what I have so I can order the lift. Any help would be appreciated. |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
It has a full time 203 transfer case. If it's a blazer frame you should see a weld in the frame between the cab and rear wheels. A 69-72 blazer had a 104 inch wheelbase. A 73-91 blazer had a 106.5 inch wheelbase. They could of used blazer drive train in a pickup frame...

That shock mount is no way from a 73-87 truck, never seen one like that.

Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
If it`s a`73-up the core support mounts will either be moved back or it`ll be mounted through the frame...improvised.The front frame horn ends are different. You know what the 67/72s look like.Check how the bumper and core support are mounted.I believe the tips of the frame would need cut off to keep the bumper back where it belongs.The`73-ups are longer in the front. Also look or moved or unused body mounts on the frame. The truck has the rear cab and front bed mounts close and the Blazer only has a single pair.

a few pictures of the frame, front end and spring hangars......
What do you all think? |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
I think it`s a post-72.1)Are the frame ends modified up front? 2)Are those bolt in the front spring hangers? 3)the crossmember for the ront sway bar,is that original looking?67-72s didn`t have one there.I have a sway bar on my`72 and a c-channel is bolted in to accept the center mounts.

Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
those front springs mounts are SCARY looking... check out diy4x for some new ones... also missing a bolt in the rear spring hanger...
newer than 72 like special-K said.. |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
Not sure what frame you have for sure maybe 73-80? I'm pretty sure that none of the spring mounts were bolted on like yours. Good Luck!
ps, what's up with Barrett Jackson? on your sig? |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
Looks to me like somebody took a 67-72 c10 frame, used 73-79 4x4 parts and made a 67-72 k10...

This was my thought......the VIN on the cab is a 2 wheel drive. The frame has not been cut and it looks like a 67-72 frame, especially up front. I think they added later suspension, cross member, sway bar and running gear to a C-10 frame. All the components are bolted in. i will look at the cross member later today to see whats up with it. What years do he spring hangars look like? |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
I`m going with 67/72 2wd with later 4wd fitted, more that I look. It`s not a K/5 frame, the frame horns look right, and why would the stuff be bolted if it was already a 4wd frame?
So,what lift kit?The thing to do is measure springs eye to eye.I`ll guess you need a`73-up kit.The post-72 front springs are shorter and the rear don`t matter. There were two possibilities and they always want to know which anyway.I forget the difference in lengths. You get yours and we`ll see what a`72 is.It`s about 2 1/2-3",I believe. |
Re: Need help....what frame am I sitting on?
