1973 hand throttle control-is it 4x4?
I bought a dash mounted hand throttle from a 73 2wd Cheyenne super. This piece mounts at the bottom of the dash above the gas pedal. the bracket bolts to the dash and the gas pedal, and you turn the knob which operates a cable that pushes down on the gas pedal, giving you a manual throttle-it's factory but I have never seen one before and was wondering what something like this may be worth? is it an rpo for 4x4"s? also this truck had a G86 locking diff and a RPO ZN9 opt. axle ratio#3.....anybody know what gear this could be? thanks steve

Hey Steve. I have a factory installed throttle control like the one you are talking about on my 71 C10. As far as what it's worth. I can't even tell you what the thinking was behind the design!? I could see it's worth if you had a PTO on your truck but otherwise.....I don't know.

I was wondering what this was for awhile back as well.
Mine was in a 74 3/4 ton 2wd. Here's the link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=358305 |

Mine is on the upper right right corner of my dash bezel below my wiper switch. Again, it is on a 71 C10 so won't be exatly the same but you do turn it to increase rpm.
"Poor mans cruise" is my guess on my truck beacause it was a 250ci w/350 auto combo. Richard |
