I had a 70 long bed, and I did a flip on my axle and removed a couple springs and it rode on the bump stops. It was about 7" drop. Get ready for a rough ride!

Re: can anyone tell me

The frame rail over the axle is 4.5" tall. You can put a 2" tall notch in the frame and some shorter bump stops, this will give you some room for the axle to move up. I did this to mine before I changed suspension out to a tri 3 link. OH one more thing, the top of the dif will be getting close to the bottom of bed floor at this point!

Are you making your own flip kit or what are you using?
I need to do something in my leaf spring rear?

Re: can anyone tell me

I made my own spring perch. Cut the old one off the top, clamped the new pair on temporary, set pinion angle and then welded them on. Piece of cake for a person of your skills! BTW nice build! when and how do you plan to shorten the longbed?

Re: can anyone tell me

well, i went to a local fab shop and they had a set of perches that just happend to fit my leaf size, and as far as the flip goes, all you have to do is remove the rear end, cut perches off, put the axle over the leafs, and weld on new perches, this is how a flip is performed, its that simple. and as far as converting it to a short bed, its staying as a long bed, just looks good to me:chevy:
