Re: Blazer tanks

Bringing this one back to the top. What size tank are you guys using? It looks like the 31 gallon is the one that was in the 88-91 Blazers. But I am concerned about overall height. The 25 gallon is listed (lmc) at 10.75" tall vs the 31 gallon at 12.75". I know I can get under my truck and do all the measuring in the world. But I also know that just measuring does not truly show where it will sit. My clearance is limited as alot of you know.

I am at the point of deciding if I am going to pursue a Blazer tank and use the stock in tank pump with a regulator. Or just keep the saddle tanks and get a new inline pump. I think the cost will be close either way. I would really rather do the Blazer tank. I just want to be as sure as I can that it will fit.

Re: Blazer tanks

I found a 31 gallon. Picking it up this weekend hopefully. I guess we just wait and see what I figure out.

Gerald, I'm picking up a 31 this weekend. How's yours going?

Re: Blazer tanks

I PM'd OJOE about it before and he said the tank hangs 6" below his frame. He said his bumper is 14" off the ground and the tank is 11" off the ground.

Wow, I'm going to have to check tonight then. I don't know if I've got that room to spare.

Re: Blazer tanks

I was thinking someone told me the 31 gallon tank would not work on a SWB, had to be the 25 gallon. The 31 gallon tank hanging underneath my suburban comes down 7.5" below the bottom of the frame, if that helps at all in your measuring. There is a void between the tank and the floor, but it is not but maybe 1/2" really.

the 40 gallon tank won't fit under a stock height or lowered short bed, the 25 and 31 gallon tanks are the same length and width with the 31 being 2" taller then the 25 gallon, either the 25 or 31 should work in a short bed

Re: Blazer tanks

That's what I meant. Yeah, that's it.

Ok, measured mine finally, it's a 31 gallon with a skid shield. I'm also guessing the 89 year will have the fuel pump in the tank like the trucks? That would make it easier for a LS type engine swap?

Low87 07-02-2010 01:59 PM

Re: Blazer tanks

Well hell, there's a 40g that doesn't fit??? I learn too much after the fact.

RandyP 07-02-2010 02:04 PM

Re: Blazer tanks

You could make it fit, just could not have a rear bumper probably.

Low87, I'd go out on a limb here and say the only way a burb would have a 40 gallon tank would be special order, or a 3/4 ton 454 engine model.

Low87 07-02-2010 02:10 PM

Re: Blazer tanks

I don't have a rear bumper....only a pan. I get what you're saying though. I'm just concerned about the possibility of this '91 Burb having a 40 since it's a conversion. We'll see. BTW Randy, I don't have to figure out how to pull the tank, he did it for me.

my half ton '89 parts 'burb with a 350 had a 40 gallon tank....
dunno if it was special order.
