steering problem
 

on my truck when i turn almost a full turn my truck skips in a way, feels like it jumping out from under me, some people tell me its my tie rod ends, which i can see thats the only thing thats not new on the suspension, could it be that??

it could be tie rod ends, bushings ball joints or the steering box. You need to jack up the truck and check out what lies underneath

all bushings are new poly urathene, ball joins are all also new, and dont say steering box hope not damn things are pricey

I would check wheel bearings ASAP! You may have one that is real bad. If wheel bearings are good you have an alignment issue. Incorrect castor will change the turning radius from right to left full turns and cause scubbing on turns. Has the truck been lowered and if so how (spring, spindles or both)?

trucks lowered i believe springs are cut, so you think wheel bearings?? also when i get around 50 i get a vibration from the front passanger tire, could that also be wheel bearings??

Yes. also check your tie rods and idler arm. Lift te wheel to check the wheel bearing. Check the Idler arm and entire drag link for wear. Have someone turn the steering wheel slowly left and right about 2 to 3" and look at the tie rod ends and idler arm for wear. It sounds like you may have an issue there. I.e. when turning a slow sharp left like into a parking place your right front tire is turning further left than your left tire causing it to skip or scrub across the pavement. Some scrubing may be predictable even with good suspension components but a bad idler arm could make it worse. Lowering with springs alone changes your former alignment and steering geometry drasticly.

wheel bearings are a strong possibility too...but again the easiest way is to jack up the front and check it out

hey 54caddy i know its off the subject but how do you like the poly suspension? i wa thinkin bout getting that for my truck too.

the poly is good nice and stiff man, and i will check the tie rod ends when i look what do i look for??

50 is a good speed for a wheel bearing to start vibrating

Excessive play, you should not be able to move them much at all with your hand if it feels loose at all they are bad. Also whaen you jack it up grab the tire with your hands and wiggle it from side to side see if it feels loose.

If its lowered with cut spring like mine. The front suspension geometry gets really bad at full lock.

yea i know that it messes up the geometery but this just recently started happening and it was lowered this way way before i built it..

Make sure the frame hasnt cracked at the steering box mount. My 77 with 10" wheels in front broke the frame and made some awful popping noises

hahah mine already cracked its fixed rite now with four thick plates of metal squeezing the frame till i can afford the frame piece and weld it in, maybe the steering box came a little loose.. idk im going to check wheel bearings tomorrow if the weather is good..
