Edelbrock an t.v. cable

hey, i just got an edelbrock performer carb on my truck and the stock mount for the tv cable and the throttle cable dont seem to line up right and it seems like the tv cable wont be on right. so i went to get one of the mounting brackets from tci and all their thing says that their brackets wont work on the edelbrock performer series? so is there mounts and things that fit the performer series that will let me get the tv cable set up right or am i just at a loss here? ive tried serching for info on seting up the tv cables but it all just seems very confusing and i havent been able to come up with any definite solutions.

Thanks, Dalton

Re: Edelbrock an t.v. cable

I made my own brackets for my truck and my son's with some plate metal and cut out the holes that I needed for the throttle cable and the TV cable to mount into. I made mine to sit on the diver's side back carb mount bolt and welded a pin to sit into the other flange mounting hole on the carb foot to keep the plate from moving when I stepped on the gas.

The plate is bent UP to allow for the throttle cable and then there is a piece welded to the bottom to allow for the TV cable to mount. This allowed me the ability to make it where the TV cable fit the best and had the right stroke on it.

Try O Reallys, the one in my town has parts for installs, also.

Order the correction bracket from www.jcwhitney.com. They have the lowest price.

Use this intake bracket.

Dont buy just anthing. First thing to do is understand how the Throttle Valve cable,TV plunger,TV plunger spring, carb linkage work together. heres some links, READ all of it.

I strongly advise you buy a "TV made easy" kit from them.

How it works.

It is so easy to set up the tv cable, I dont know why it has this stigma that its a black art or something. If you look at the cable where it fits into the bracket it has an auto adjustment built into the desgn. Just push the D shaped plastic button in with a screwdriver then push the slider all the way in and hook up the cable to the carb. it should not have much movement, then get into the car and floor the pedal. The adjuster will slide back out and its done.

thanks alot guys, since i got this truck ive ben trying to read up and understand the t.v. cable as much as possible because of how important it seems to be. i understand somewhat how it workes and all of that i just cant seem to figure it out to wear i comftorbly understand exactly what to do. that kit looks like it might be the ticket. i would try and make my own setup, but i have limited acces to beeing able to fabricate things.

Yes i know most people think that this is correct, and for a stock car/truck with a factory 700R4/4L60 it whould be close at best. With a aftermarket carb with aftermarket brakets/cable, the transmission might last a few hundred miles.......Im guessing you did not read the links.

I used these same brackets (for Edelbrock carb) on my 700r4 (in my 86 truck) along with a 87 chevy truck TV cable and it is simple to set-up and mine has been running fine for several years.

I agreee people make this out to be harder than it really is.

that is the bracket I used on my S10 with a 700R4 and an Edelbrock carb, works good. you can make it work bout any way ya want, but a carb set up for a TH350 or 400 has a different range of motion than a throtle body set up for a 700R4 so if you run that trans with a carb you need the corection bracket. Edelbrock also has a cable mount that bolts to the intake , price'y but very solid and worth the money.

I agree. I have an Edelbrock 1406 and used their setup on my '78 and have not had to touch it since it was installed 6 or 7 years ago. They also give you a sheet to write down all your pressures and you can call them and they will let you know if it is installed right. Great company to do buisness with...
