hey all,
Im ready to get off my arse and mount up in a lockable manner my highlift jack. Im not really willing to leave it ever again in the bed and it's a beast to get into my toolbox.

can i please see you picts of mounts? plllleeeeaaaasssseeeeeeeee...

Well I read again and it says not ready to leave in bed. So do you want it hidden under the bed? Or behind the seat maybe, if possible unless you have speakers or the seat doesn't fold.

no i meant as in just "chuck it" into the bed unsecured..
if i can bolt it and lock it im happy with the mount.

nd tito... it's a hassle because my toolbox is above my eyelevel on my truck with a split lid box.

I monted mine useing wing nuts and bolt welded to my gate:

I tap them tight with a hammer.

How is it not a hassle?Are you serious?

I don`t have mine mounted.I used to on another truck.I mounted it along the top bed rail inside.

i got about the same set up that mudder has but mounted it inside quarter panel on a 78 blazer , got it from my local, tractor supply store

Not sure where the pics are anymore, but will try to describe how I mounted mine in my 70 long bed truck.

On the drivers side at the rear stake pocket I made a bracket. The bracket was a piece of 2" wide 1/8" angle about 4" long. In the middle of the piece of angle I put a 1/2" bolt that had a smooth shank and I cut the head off. I then drilled smaller holes near the ends of the metal for 3/8" bolts. I bolted the whole thing to the bed with the bolt facing forward.

Then on the middle stack pocket, I drilled a 1/2" hole and made a similar double nutted bolt with the head cut off and a hole drilled in the end for a lock or hitch pin. This pin pointed to the passengers side of the bed.

You put the foot of the jack on the "pin" at the rear of the bed, then you put the beam of the jack on the second pin. I put a piece of rubber behind the beam to protect the bed and reduce rattling and a bicycle inner tube over the jack handle for the same reason. I used a spring behind the hitch pin or lock between the beam to hold it tight.

Clear as mud? Very few parts were required and it kept the jack out of the way, below the bed rails, easily accessed, yet mostly protected from theft.
