quick T case question

So I was looking into getting a 2 speed aux for my 2wd truck. Would it be a stupid idea to get a 4x4 transfer case and just run a driveline to the rear, and not the front? I have a muncie sm465 to use as the main trans. Thanks.

Re: quick T case question

check out my thread from yesterday on the np203.

theoretically you could put one in with a mile marker kit and then remove the actuator lever for shifting between 2 and 4wd. it would leave alot of dead weight though, and that is not a light case.....

perhaps you could divorce one and machine up some kinda faceplate and yoke??

Re: quick T case question

You might look at some of the companies that use the 203 Hi-lo portion for a doubler on other transfer cases. They might have a adapter that would allow it to be used like you want. It would get rid of most of the 203 weight associated with the chain drive and shaft/gears for the front drive line.
