Quicker steering ratio?

It takes a good 5-6 turns of my steering wheel to get the truck turned. I'm just wondering if there's a quicker ratio steering box that would fit and wouldn't seem like I'm turning a semi. Or would a smaller steering wheel do what I'm looking for?

I have never used their services but these guys should be able to convert your existing box to a quick ratio. quick ratio steering There may be a few others out there that can do this also.

Smaller steering wheel would not chainge anything...it would still be 5-6 turns...just have to spin the wheel faster to get the reaction out of the wheels.

I suggest checking out AGR. They have several options available. I put one of their variable ratio boxes in and am very happy with it. Summit had the best prices when I was shopping.

I think a smaller wheel gives a better feel. You will still have the same amount of turns,& have to work it a little faster as Longhorn mentioned, but you arm doesnt travel as far with a smaller circle.....it just feels better to me? :bowtie:

If it is a power steering box, you might try a box from the mid to late 70's. I have one from 77? and it is 3 turns. I had to change the pitman arm over to a 77 also. The hole that mounts on the shaft is bigger. Other than that it was a bolt in.

I have an 84 Burb box on the longhorn, its also 3 turns lock to lock. I had to change the hoses, pump fitting, & the pitman to bolt it on (metric box)........crazyL:bowtie:
