Carb or fuel injection?

Carb or tbi? I don't know what to do. I drive on the highway almost everyday and I either need a new carb or to spend the money on a tbi. In Vegas when it's 120 outside and 170 on the street the carb acts up alittle. I'm not a mechanic by no means and just want to enjoy the ride of my old 79. Please help.

I drive a carb. Get 18+ MPG at 70 MPH. Carbs are outdate but they do work when properly adjusted and setup.
Without an engine transplant, aftermarket TBI/MPFI installs are available. Read this article: http://users.sfo.com/~eagle/howell.html You'll get a good idea about using stock parts from a donor vehicle. You can even upgrade a few parts for better performance. You can buy parts from http://www.cfm-tech.com/

Sounds like you just need someone to tune your carb properly. I prefer injection, but there is nothing wrong with a properly tuned carb.

What would be the best injection set up for my chevy 350 5.7

Is the motor modified? If so, a Ram Jet setup from GM is perfect.

If the motor is stock, a TBI/TPI setup works fine.

Re: Carb or fuel injection?

an LS based engine is just more hassle free.

Re: Carb or fuel injection?

with wild heat swings the carb is bound to be UN-EFFICIENT carbs do not suck. Theres a reason people still use them. Emphasis on the word UN-EFFICIENT...

You should look into the edelbrock kit or a complete swap.
