truck consistantly dies
I have a 71 chevy and any time i take my foot off of the gas the truck dies.
otherwords it will not idle.. what are some possible problems i can check for?? |
Re: truck consistantly dies
6 or 8?
Vaccum leak, possible fuel problems. Hard to tell with out seeing it. But if it runs with the foot on the gas strong, Id start with those two, wouldnt hurt to see what the fuel pump volume is producing. Smitty |

In gear or neutral? Auto or stick?

Re: truck consistantly dies
first thing i would check if you havent already is fuel mixture on the carb, and the idle set screw, could be idle is set too low. hope this helps. Dan

Re: truck consistantly dies
Also check your timing, if it's too retarded it'll do this as well.

Re: truck consistantly dies
a complete tune up is a great place to start// points plugs plug wires filters all need routine maintenence as well as checking for cracked dryrotted vaccume hoses cleaning up electrical connections is good too
a good service manual will show you how to perform these tasks properly//plus it will show you how to get to the fuel filter inside the carb |
