Re: 72 blazer body mount torque specs

i would just tighten evenly and tighten by hand/feel

I think they are 1/2 bolts, so 80-100Ft/Lbs should be within spec

i thought i read that if you tighten them to much it will squish the rubber mounts. from what i remember its around 20 to 50ft/lbs. i really dont want to F anything up. i tried searching the fax thread and cant find them and with the 60 sec wait between searchs.. its killing me.

tighten till the rubber bushings are slighttly bulged on the sides but not collapsed

I would use nylon locking nuts and tighten like truckman said. Too tight and they won't "work" right...I never used a torque setting for thoes mounts. Just snugg um up tell you see slight buldge. Double checkum all after yer first ride.

Aren't you supposed to tighten them until the lower washer and the body mount sandwiches the steel core inside the rubber mounts? I thought this should preload the rubber mounts.

Re: 72 blazer body mount torque specs

thats how I did mine, tighten until the washer bottoms out on the steel sleeve insert, this keeps the rubber mount from squashing. then drive it for a week or so and retighten everything up again. if you don't use nylock nuts put a dab of weatherstip adhesive on the end of the nut and first couple of threads of the bolt after tightening to keep the nut from coming loose.:metal:

This was in the FAQ section from frenchblue: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=195985 does not apply to poly bushing IIRC
