relocating fuel tank

Hey everyone,
I'm toying with the idea of relocating the gas tank on my 70. I'm looking to get opinions, suggestions,hints/tips. Do you have any recomendations for tank kits? My big concern is the filler location, I don't want to put the filler in the bed floor. I was thinking of putting the filler behind the license plate in the rear bumper, but I'm not sure how that will fill. I have a 2/4 drop on my truck would gravity be against me? Any suggestions for filler location would be great. Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm sure you can find some examples in the build/project sub-forum.

This is a long thread, but worthy of checking out. The link above will take you to page 6 (of 24), and you can see some pix of the gas tank.

tthe bad about the filler in back of the rear bumper is yo need the tank to b lower than the filler// everybody tries to tuck the tank up high as possible in the frame for safty and looks

I can't remember who it is but someone on here located it behind the side marker light on a flip out door. Side marker still works and everything. Very Very clean. I have thought about running mine through the back of the bed in one of the post holes or even coming out the back light and put it on a flip open door.

Just a thought.

I don't think there is room behind the side marker if it is a fleet side. I wanted to do it but theres not much room from the tub.

I believe the guy who did it behind the side marker had a step side.

I have seen previous posts where they have installed the filler door behind the side marker light. Here is one of them.

Got my bed on today, not gonna be much room for a filler. debating which direction ima go still. I think ima graft a fuel door from a newer model..anyone know which one fits best? (slimest, because not much room behind bedsides between bedside/bedside inner)

Seems like the behind the plate filler would be too low to fill right. Might work if you are bagged and put the front in the dirt and the a$$ in the air

That's what I'm thinking to gravity would be against me. I'm not baggin it so I guess I need to go back to the drawing board.
