LS swap questions
 

Is everyone that is running dual tanks having to use the 87 specific tank selector switch? Just wondering because I looked at both of them and they look identical. What is the difference between the two? Thanks

probally reffering to the 87 fuel tank itself... there is a small baffle/bucket where the fuel pump sits into... the switches are probally the same as i cannot think of a reason why they would be different.

Nope, not talking about the tanks. I know those are baffled. I have had 87 tanks, senders, intank pumps , etc for months now. The 86 and older switch on the dash and the 87-91 switches are different. Just dont remember what is different about them.

I think the later switch powers up the pump when it is switched (I think). Bob or Dennis will know, for sure.

When I was buying a new selector switch at Autozone, there were two styles. One was a momentary switch for L or R tanks that you held in place to switch the selector valve, then returns to a neutral position, and the other (the correct style for my TBI 87') stays in position for either L or R tank.

I am just unsure which one I need for the LS swap. Bob or Dennis know?

I would think that if you are using 2 seperate pumps, you would have to have the '87 up to maintain power to the f.i. pump.

Foamy and Jonboy have it right. There are two types, even in the 87. You want the one that is either in the R or L position. DO NOT get the one that says "Depress Fully".

NAPA usually stocks them, I had to replace mine. NAPA part number ECH FS502, $15.01.

OK, I get it now. The relay for the fuel pump will run through the switch and send constant power to the pump chosen where the "depress fully" switch only sends power long enough to switch the valve.
