Another what is this thread...help me,plz
This is under dash, don't know where it goes. Was messing around under there trying to clean it up and wondering why my alarm is not working and found this plug and have no idea where it goes.

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
looks kinda like a vats harness but i'm pretty sure these old trucks didn't have that...

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
it's probably power for your alarm...looks like red/pink which should be switch power, yellow which should be constant power, and black which should be ground...I would look up under there for some kind of box and see if you can see where it plugs into...

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
its not for alarm, all that is connected fine. It is a factory connector...just can't remember what it goes to.
I just took out the alarm box, it's getting power, and my shock sensor is working...I'll mess with it some more later. thx. ps pink/black, black, yellow wires... |
Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
First thing, what year we looking at? Does it have cruise control or did it have cruise? I can't really see the end of the terminal to well, but it looks like the VSS sensor connection OR, the cruise switch connector. Jim

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
its an 86 and yes it had cruise.
Whats weird is I looked at my old cluster and it still has the green cruise control pigtail connector(flat blade type)... hmmm |
Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
It looks like it is for the stock radio power, ground and constant.

No, fairly certain it is not a radio plug. Not sure what this radio is out of, but it was in a 81-87 when we pulled it at the bone yard.

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
All I know of is when I put a radio in my 1978 that is what the radio hot ground and constant plug looked like and there was a seperate plug for the speaker wires.

Starter interrupt for a manual?
Fasten seatbelt buzzer? |
Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
might be factory radio....my wiring diagram is not giving me much...
thx all. |
Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
Get a VOM, hook one lead to a known ground, stick the other end in the sockets one at a time and see what the VOM says when set to VDC. There should be a constant hot, switched hot, and a ground...the ground will have to be tested on the VOM at the impedance setting.

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
According to my Haynes, it's probably for the VSS. Black, yellow and pink/black. Plugs in to VSS on the old cluster?
And according to this schematic, it is the VSS as well, only brown instead of black. Lower left of the drawing. I seem to remember removing that one during my swap. Sorry for the BIG pic! http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/tech...rument_pg1.jpg |

It tis, my friend! That is from a Haynes manual? Looks very different than mine. Mine's not at all as detailed as the ones you have.

Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
glock, thx a ton.
That really helped. John |
Re: Another what is this thread...help me,plz
Normally, you can find plugs not being used. Wiring harnesses were generic for every option available. Check it for power. You can use the plug to add options.
