you were saying you used a newer x-member on your 68 frame right? well did you use the newer ( 73-87 ) style motor mounts or did you use 67-72 v8 motor mounts? will my 85 motor mounts and tranny xmember work on the 71 frame? thanks for the help...Derek

I think they would you will have to drill the holes in the frame for the 85 mounts that s about it I would use the 85 motor mounts and use the 85 front crossmember. I guess you will see when you get the frame back. Sorry about your loss.. I will be praying for you . I guess I am a step ahead of you. Do you have a welder ? I cut my frame it was pretty easy. Later Dude !

dont have a welder but can weld, ill leave this to the chevy guru of my town, he has done so many of these trucks taht he can do it with his eyes closed, and a jig helps i think. ill keep ya guys posted

A bush cord of firewood 200 seemes worth it to me Make sure he does a dimond plate over the lap joint. Good Luck Mario

lap joint? wouldnt he butt the frame up and then weld, if you do a lap i cant see it coming out straight like it was before...it would be offset the thickenss of the frame??? im new to this, so please tell me whats up

I couldn't get the later style mounts to work out right without spacing them off the top of the frame with washers. I ended up using the original style v8 mounts.
