S10 tranny

Does anyone know what tranny was used in the 88 s10? Its automatic 4 speed. A 2.8 liter was in front of it. Also will it bolt to a 307?

I have a 91 S10 and so does my friend, we bolted on a 350 with very small adjustments (motor mounts)as for a tranny if your wanting to replace it with the engine i wouldn't use an original tranny we replaced ours with a TH400 and customized a driveline.

From what I have heard, no. The 2.5 and 2.8 liter S-10 used the same 700R4 transmission but the 4.3 liter used a different one. The trans off a 4.3 liter would work on a small block but not from a 2.8 liter. The bellhousing bolt pattern will be different.

The tranny would be a 700R-4. No it will not fit. The 2.8 was a 60 degree block. The 4.3 and V8's are 90 degree block, different bolt patterns.

what about a 96 s10? it has the 4.3 in it... how much modification would be required?

Some of the 2.8L's Had TH200s (3spd) and 200R4s (4spd overdrive)

will not work from a 2.8, only from a 4.3 as someone said before. 2.8 is 60 degree block and 4.3 is 90 degree.
