washed my truck....have questions
So yesterday I hand washed my truck for the first time. While doing this I saw a lot of water "peeing" from the bottom of the door (where the drain holes are). I also remember my 72 haveing water slosh around in it cause the drain holes were plugged.
So am I correct that the doors just get water in them....that's the way it is? I have brothers one piece windows and I don't think they seal from the outside as good as factory. Second, I have sound damper (second skin) stuck to the inside of the outer door skin. If/when this gets wet, is it going to trap water and cause rust? |
Re: washed my truck....have questions
All of the ones that I have had are/were that way....

Water will seep into the door. That's why it's important to keep the weep holes open and occasionally take the door panels off and vacuum the leaves and other debris from the bottom of the door. Same thing with the vent holes. Remove the swivel door and stick a vacuum hose down in there. Any where that water/moisture/oxygen can get trapped is a potential rust area. |

Make sure you keep good seals on the outside of the window. It will help keep trash out of the doors and from clogging the weep holes. They will still need occassional maintainence but it's more fun to drive them than keep up little stuff like that.
