fuel sending unit

Hey guys. when i bought my truck just over a year ago, the fuel gauge didnt work. So i went to the classic car parts store and ordered a new sending unit. The fuel gauge now works, but not accuratly. After some research I found that the stock sender was 30ohm resitor and the one i bought was a 90ohm. Is there anyway to make this one work? I've called around and no one can get the proper one.

Thanks,

btw its a 65 c20

Re: fuel sending unit

You could try running a 45 ohm resistor in parallel with the sending unit. Not sure if it will effect linearity. It will get you to the 30 ohms

I build new 0-90 ohm fuel sending units for the stock tanks, if you're interested. I have one on my shelf in my office ready to go. Check the link below for more of a description if this is the route you would like to go for the sending unit.

You can also rewind the wire in the sending unit leaving out 2/3 of the wire that it came with, giving you the 30 ohm total resistance that you need. No B.S. it works, just did one on the '63 that I'm converting to fuel injection with a stock '91 tank and sending unit. I didn't have the money to have the sender reworked so I did it myself. Works perfect.
