answer to my weird spaced tires?
Quote:
remember how i told you my passanger tires stick out more then my drivers side tires? well i remember that when i got my truck aligned they put about 3 new shims in the pass. side and none in the drivers side. could that be the reason that tire sticks out so much more? and i still dont know about the back though:confused: |
Yep. Sure is. When they add the shims, it pushes the upper control arm out, thus increasing the track. I've got all the shims mine will hold. My front track is around 2" wider than the back, where stock it's about an inch.
My guy told me, and he is good before I forget, I would be a lot better off with an offset upper control arm shaft. If I go any lower, I'd be out of luck. I'm out of threads on the upper arm mounting bolts. He didn't want to have fewer than at least the whole nut covering threads. |
so, what can i do to correct this?

Take it to someone who knows how to properly align a frontend on a dropped truck. I am very lucky to have found the guy who does mine. He is top notch. A lot of places won't touch them because they can't just use factory specs. It takes longer to do it right also. This gets into their time and money they can make. Find a shop who specializes in performance tires and wheels. Most of the time they have a good frontend man. Or they need to have one anyway.

i'll find a good place to align it after i do my poly frontend rebuild. whenever that may be

I agree with Mike. Take it to a good shop. It cost me nearly twice the price of a regular alignment at the speciality shop I went to. Worth every dime because my truck drives straight and the wheels look properly aligned.

Eric- I think Speedtek in Midwest City does alignment. You might check them out.
