brake problem
 

my truck has had a break problem that we thought would be fixed by replacing the master cylinder, putting in new rear drum hardware that wasn't there to begin with (?!), replacing the front disks, etc.

well now the truck stops but you need to basically put the pedal all the way to the floor until it starts working. the drums were cleaned of off roading debris which did help for a short period of time and now it is back to how it always is. everything is spotless and new now, so dirt cannot be the issue


i actually did a search a few days ago on here and found a thread with some answers. the thread was about someone thinking they needed to replace their master in order to fix this (dropping a lot of money like me) when it turned out it was something else. now i forget what this something else was and i forget where that thread was at (tried searching again but couldn't find it)

if anyone knows what could be wrong with a new master, bled brake lines, perfectly fine drums, and new discs, where the problem is the pedal seems spongy/has to be pushed down all the way (but CAN stop well), or any threads about it, please help

thanks... lots of money wasted for nothing (yet) it seems

Did you "bench bleed" the brake master cylinder?

How was the bleed on the system as a whole? (ie, did you seem to get all the air out)?

Did you adjust the rear shoes out to the drums after you installed them (the shoes, that is)?

it really sounds like there is still air in the lines
