My front disk brake options
Hello, I have been doing the research and now it's time for a few questions.
I have a stock 1970 C10 with drum brakes. I have been looking at the kits from GMC Pauls and CPP. I already have drop springs from CPP for the front and back 3" in front 4" in back. I want to start my conversion in July and have saved enough to do what I want. Out of those two vendors, in your opinion, which has the better kit? Can I use the stock front springs and just use a drop spindle instead? What incidentals will I more than likely need for my disk upgrade? I have learned allot in the last few months reading here and appreciate what you have to say. Thanks |

Re: My front disk brake options
Bought a 69 swb afew weeks back for my son and run up on a 72 lwb fri. so I'm gonna swap out the front carrier for the disc brakes and cut 1 round out of the springs for a 2" drop and then swap out the rearends and fab up a set of 2" blocks for a 2" drop in the rear, run 255/70/r15 tires for a nice lowered look for cheap..........
Best of luck! |

Re: My front disk brake options
I installed the disc brake upgrade kit from Early Classic Enterprises (earlyclassics.com) and wouldn't have gone any other way.
Also... just an FYI, keep in mind that the rear ends available in 1970 varied as one was narrower than the other. When you add disc brakes to the front track width is widened by .75" on each side which might cause issues with your current wheel/tire combo. IMO... with the two vendors listed above I would check with GMC Pauls vs. CPP... refer to the review section of the board for other issues experienced by fellow board members. (I have never ordered from them, just reviewed the experiences felt by others.) |
