LSx Header options

Ok what header do you have on your 73-87 truck. I only know of one company that has them. S&P. But i dont really like the length and collector and they are close to 600 bucks shipped. Where else sells them that will fit? Looking for long tube but dont think any will be made. Dougs was making some but have not heard any thing from them. Or what maniflods fit with no fram cutting.

98-02 fbody manifolds work, grind a little bit on pass side manifold and good to go.
I heard pacesetter fbody longtubes work...

I hear Doug Thorely makes a long tube for these swaps also, if I remember right, you can pick them up under $500.

Re: LSx Header options

They dont have one out for 73-87 yet. pretty much everything else they have them tho. I think people have tried to put the 67-72 on the newer ones and they did not work. Shon that sells them says they dont fit and he does not have an answer for if and when they will come out.

Re: LSx Header options

Does Muscle Rods not offer any?

I have a set of stock manifolds from my lq4. I'm not gonna use them. You can have them if you want em. Also if you know of anyone looking for any ls parts I have a fully loaded cathedral port manifold, and the stock harness and controller. Cheap.

Check there. www.mastmotorsports.com in nacogdoches is a muscle rods dealer. If you order anything thru them I can bring it to you next time I come to Tyler (at least every other weekend). Also they can tell you about any kind of manifold you are in the market for. Very knowledgeable guys. If you call ask for Brian, Nathan or Horace. Horace is the owner and can tell you anything about Ls engines. But he left town today and wont be back for 2 weeks. Have you ever looked into to Lonestar racing on 110 in Tyler across from Trane?

Lonestar is pretty good and you'd be surprised what they have in stock there. I think they are also RCI and Harwood dealers since they are both local to Tyler too.

78-5.3 used a set of Summit brand F-body shortie headers on his swap if i remember right.

You can always modify a set of big block headers to fit using new LS flanges from GMPP or other sources. The third gen F-body guys have been doing this for quite a while.

Re: LSx Header options

I have been trying to get some info on this as well. I heard gto or chevelle swap headers will work but have'nt confirmed this. Gona do a carbed 404 dont want to choke it w/manifolds or waste some tq w shorties. Looks like its going in my chevy 2 then.

Re: LSx Header options

That is my prob. Lots of people say they may work but i cant spend my hard earned money on may fit. Wish the header companys would get off there kister and start fabing stuff up. Every one makes them for older and some newer truck just not our year. Just like the 4 wheeling croud evrything for jeeps is made but nothing new and exciting for our stuff even tho they do just as good as them jeeps. Sorry just venting have been looking for 6 mounths and found 1 that def will fit. Thanks for idea tho.

I have the s&p headers

85burb 07-11-2010 08:09 AM

Re: LSx Header options

How do they fit? I read someones build that they sent wrong ones then the ones they sent back to get them to work they had to cut ear off of transmission. I really dont want to pay 600 bucks for a set but i guess if that is my only option i may have too.

pcmcobra 07-11-2010 12:18 PM

Re: LSx Header options

that was me. I cut the ear off and sent them back. Cutting the ear of is no big deal.
S&P sent the correct ones for a 4l80e.

Re: LSx Header options

I dont want to cut mine it has worrenty still. Will they be a problem with a 700r4?

pcmcobra 07-11-2010 02:29 PM

Re: LSx Header options

no, just make sure you tell them what tranny you have and they will make the headers to fit, no problem.

85burb 07-11-2010 11:21 PM

Re: LSx Header options

Is that the only option you know of?
