Help ID my T-case?
My transfer case out of an '85 3/4 ton brub. Date stamps all read 84&85, so I'm thinking it's original. But it does have excess amounts of gasket sealer in places, so I'm guessing it's been into.
Found two large casting numbers. First is C-15085, second one is C-15164. Don't remember right off which one is on the front of the t-case and which was on the rear, but they were each on a different half of the case. It does have "NP" in a couple of places. but no obvious "203, 205, or 208" on it anywhere. Thanks for any help. If this doesn't get it, then I'll take and post some pics of it. |
Re: Help ID my T-case?
OK, well I found the ID tag, didn't know it would be on a tag. But I scraped the black paint off and found the 208C on it.
So now that's figured out..Anything particular I should know about this case? Any unusual weaknesses? Is it a POS or a decent transfer case? It's mated to a TH400 transmission if that makes any difference. Thanks, Jay |
Re: Help ID my T-case?
Without splitting the case, there isn't much you can tell about the condition its in.

Re: Help ID my T-case?
i run 44s with a sm465 and a 208 and abuse the crap out of it. ive busted 3 cases, but after that i custom made a heavy bracket that bolts to the side of my 4speed and then to the side of my 208. ever sence then,,,no breakage....the bouncing leaverage in the mud pits where snaping the cases in half.

Re: Help ID my T-case?
Do you have any pics of the bracket you made. I'd be curious to see it so I might could imitate it somehow.
Thanks |
Re: Help ID my T-case?
Keep in mind that th400/np208 is the same drivetrain the US Army used on all M1008.
