Do Dana 60 8 lug and 6 lug gears interchange?
 

I have both in disrepair and wonder if I can use the gears out of the 6 lug rearend in the 8 lug?

the rear ends would have to be the same size and make to do a gear swap

If they have the same spine count, they can swap. Dana 60 have had a few different spline count through the years. The housings are the same, the carriers may be different. Of course front D60 parts do not swap with rear D60 parts.

Yes, they are the same. Both 30 spline. The ring and pinion would swap regardless, only the side gears are different for different shaft splines. Also, front and rear D60 carriers and gears are the same unless you are talking about a reverse rotation front axle.

Both of these are rear ends. The rod that holds the spider gears sheared off in the 8 lug and wanted to have a shop replace with the 6 lug gears. The 6 lug needs and new axel and I can not find one.

There are no reverse rotation front axles. Only reverse cut gears for high pinion D60s. Nothing "rotates" in reverse.
