Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

I had the ECE mounts, now I have the Car Shop mounts, havent installed motor yet with new mounts, but it looks like they might set the motor even more forward than the ECE mounts. So which mounts would set the motor back the most?

Have you tried the 1" setback mounts that carshopinc makes? I had their regular mounts, but switched to another brand's 1" setback since carshopinc didn't make them at the time. It set my motor exactly where the old sbc used to be and my trans bolted right up.

I didn't know they had 1" setback mounts. I just received CSP 2349 mounts yesterday, will try to reinstall tonight. Thanks!

Dangit, if I would have known about those CSP 2370, I would have ordered them instead. Thanks for the info Team39763!

#2 and #3 are the most common plates.

Ok, ya so now I'm mad. I had the ECE mounts but sold them because the mounts were about 1" too far forward, now I have the Car Shop CSP 2349 mounts and its even worse. I want a LS motor mount that I will be able to use the LS clutch fan and the original 72 fan shroud, and the bellhousing flange meet up the trans. that is in the truck. Any suggestions? Thanks for the diagram Glock, I can visually see what I need now, who makes or sells the # 1's? I think that is what I need. Thinking about returning my 2349 for the 2370.

Re: Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

No one makes #1 commercially that I am aware of. Someone might, but I just haven't seen them. I just included it in my diagram for the engine mount sticky. If those are the ones you need, they are super simple to make.

These would be the closest:

Thanks again Glock, you da man, I looked at those and considered them at first.

I used the POL stands, on the rear mounting holes and then used their mount plates too. I could use the shroud with a little trimmin.

I just ordered the tpiparts plates, shipped express, and will be returning my Car shop mounts. Hopefully I will be putting it in for the last time tomorrow.

Let us know how it sits. I may have to order some of those as well

Re: Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

Mine sorta look like the ones in #1. I couldn't get a real good look at them since my hood is stuck. I believe mine are the S&P 1" setback mounts. Shortly after I bought mine to replace my standard carshopinc mounts, carshopinc started making 1" setback mounts.

They fit good. a little thick though, about 3/8" thick. I had to slot my engine stands and the frame in order to get the motor to set down on the stands with the adapters and Prothane mounts. I used them in the most forward position, so that I could use the LS fan and 72 shroud, but now I can't mount my a/c compressor in Ls fashion. With the ECE mounts I could use the LS a/c compressor in it's normal location, but the Ls fan was real close to the radiator. Had to notch the bottom of shroud to clear water pump snout, and install fan and shroud as 1.

Have you tried using 6 cyl stands in rear position with the # 2 plates. This is what I used. Engine sits back pretty good.

Nope haven't tried that. I was able to slot stands and frame and it sets back good. Still able to use Ls fan and 72 shroud, but a/c compressor doesn't fit in stock location. Oh well I guess we can't have it all.

I agree, I used the 6 cyl stands with plates like number two, and a urethan version of the stock type mount. the engine sits very close to the firewall, like it was meant to go there.

Does the AC comp fit in there with the motor mounted like this?

Re: Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

Mine doesn't. I think I will have to go with the high mount bracket.

Re: Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

Mine does but I made my own compressor mount to move the AC in closer to the engine. No good pics available. Wish had taken some before engine install. I got some compressor blocks from Docs Blocks.com. Have put on yet.

Re: Which motor mounts set the motor back the most?

I'm hoping someone here can help. I too had the ECE mounts and found them to mount the motor too far forward and am now using some Transdapt mounts that are similar to #1.

My question is.....now that I have the motor so much further back...will I still be able to get the cab on?

Mine is using 6cyl mounts and the rear holes...plus the mounts look like the set back further....too far back?

Yep, it's just that you have your towers in the most rear holes. I have mine in the front 2 holes on the frame.
