automatic column indicator light
installed a 72 automatic tilt column in my 67 stepside. relocated the NSS up the column 2 3/4 inches and installed a female horseshoe connector to match up with the column horseshoe cpnnector. i have one extra wire going up the column..a gray one...is this the power source for the shift indicator bulb? and if so, is the gray wire wired into the dash lights circuit...thanks for help!

Re: automatic column indicator light
There should be a place in the fuse box to plug it in, that's where I put mine so it comes on when the dash lights do.:metal:

Re: automatic column indicator light
That's a pretty safe bet. Gray is the standard GM color for instrument lighting.

Re: automatic column indicator light
Yes, that grey wire is likely a dash light source, check with a meter or test light to be sure. The 72 shift indicator light is light by a fiber optic cable from the back of the dash, not a wire and light bulb like prior years. Not sure which years used the fiber to light the shift indicator.

Re: automatic column indicator light
Plug it on the cluster feed on the fuse panel.
