Detailing suspension
Where would I find information on detailing the suspension on these trucks? Is there anything specific, or does it even matter?

Re: Detailing suspension
E-tek, if you can provide us with a little more info, we will see what we can come up with for you.
Are you painting the frame and other pieces? Maintaining painted pieces? Looking for a how-to on cleaning, prepping, and painting the pieces? |
Re: Detailing suspension
Thank you sir. I have a thread going for the entire resto ( http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=420843), but just got the frame, with suspension, sandblasted. I'm gonna POR15 and topcoat the frame with semi-gloss black, but wanted to get the springs, backing plates, rear end, etc., the right colors too.

Your blaster did a real nice job.

Re: Detailing suspension
Nice blasting job but it looks like the brake line connector might have some blasting material in it, please make sure you flush your brakes properly before driving.

One forum I've found that has a lot of coneheads(restorers) is chevytalk.org
Good bunch of guys there too, might find what you're looking for.... |
Re: Detailing suspension
Looks good man! I would make sure to replace the wheel bearings and seals. By the looks of you picture your backing plate got blasted and I'm sure it problily damaged the seal and you could have blasting media in the bearings. Seals and bearing are cheap. You might also want to check the king pin also.
