Nova subframe for '60-'62?
I know about the cross member conversion from the later trucks, but I just found a Nova subframe in a junkyard, so I'm wondering if there are any advantages to using it over the conversion crossmember.
I'm thinking it would get the truck down lower in the front, and a lot more stuff is available for the Nova/Camaro subframes than trucks. Thoughts? -Brad |

I personally wouldn't put a Nova subframe under these trucks. It would be a lot of unnecessary work IMO. There is actually a lot of aftermarket support for the pickup suspensions anymore.

Re: Nova subframe for '60-'62?
I have a 60 with a Camaro clip. The clip doesn't go out far enough to mount the rad, rad support and bumper. Plus it is a lot wider at the front so you would have to fab front supports for said items. Also the steering box is on the opossite side of the frame rail so you have to either use some steering u joints and "bend" it around or figure out how to mount a trucks steering box. If I didn't buy it this way I would go with the cross member swap, plus I'm not all that good at welding fabbing. I don't have pics other than my cell phone and I am not sure if those will even post. The swap has been done I know another guy on here did it and has the front end complete, so it falls mostly on your choice of money, fab skills, and time to do either one. Good luck with it.

Thanks guys.
I'm sticking with the later truck front crossmember/coil spring conversion. -Brad |

I used an 86 donor truck for my front and rear conversion. Worked perfect. |
