Diesel radiator fitment???

I found a radiator that came off of an 85 k3500 that had a 6.2 L diesel in it. Should that be a big 4 core radiator? I am needing one for my 454 conversion. Any info is appreciated.

Sorry, it is going into a 83' c10. I have a radiator top bracket for a 4 core so I assume it will work with the diesel radiator..

it should be a 4 core big radiator...just make sure you get the radiator hold down on the top...it's the big plastic piece...lol

The inlet is the only difference if i remember right. Our diesel parts suburban donated its radiator to a 454 and all seem fine, I put the 454 radiator back in the suburban and it worked fine, i just made a custom redneck upper radiator hose.

I have the metal hold down piece off of a 4 core radiator. Is that the pice you are talking about?

I am going to be running dual electric fans so I shoudn't need the shroud right? Am I thinking right that the diesel radiators are even bigger (wider) than the regular 4 core big block radiators?

Hey Stitch. I just have the upper radiator support for a normal BBC 4 core radiator. Are you saying I will need a different upper support to make the diesel radiator work? I have never seen one before so I have no point of reference.

I'll take a picture of mine for ya...I think you just need the regular upper support...

so a 1 Ton 6.2 has 4 core rads?

Re: Diesel radiator fitment???

Here's the pictures...the first pic is of the passenger side hold down...the second pic is of the driver side hold down...the third pic is of the other set of holes for mounting the regular 4 core radiator hold down...the diesel radiator I think is wider than the normal 4 core radiator...you're gonna need the plastic piece that goes across the top of the radiator to make it look right...it bolts to the core support and shroud...a normal piece is not going to be wide enough...the fourth picture is of the plastic upper piece...the fifth and sixth pictures are of the inlet and outlet...on the driver's side is on the top and on the passenger its on the bottom...

every 6.2 should have a 4 core radiator...actually it's wider than a normal 4 core radiator that would come with a big block I'm pretty sure...mine's a 1.2 ton and it has a 4 core

The one I just looked at also had a built in oil cooler. I didn't end upmbuying it. It was pretty ruff. The search continues.....

Thanks for the pics Stich

Hey Brandon,
I have a BBC 4 core radiator from a '78 that you can have if you want it. I think it might have a hole in one of the tubes though. I dunno what it would cost to have repaired.....

Re: Diesel radiator fitment???

I'll take it Joe. I was going to take whatever I got into the radiator shop anyway. This will be better than buying one from someone and then finding out it has holes all in it anyway. Are you going to be around tomorrow?
