Re: guys with ac in their trucks
I put a Vintage-air compact III in my 70. It is a universal model. I should have used the custom one which is available for that model & yours also. It works good & doesn't hang down too far but I have no glove box anymore & the back of the dash is full of tubes for the A/C outlets & defroster, but you will have that with any. Under hood is real clean as none of the heater is protruding from the fire wall.

Re: guys with ac in their trucks
We have been a vintage Air dealer for 20 yrs and like them very much. I have installed other brands, and have had some difficulty. The V.A. kit is worth the extra $$. "sure-fit" style kits are easier to install, but don't look as custom. The Gen III Compac is my favorite for the 55-59. We - No Limit - make an underdash apron that is molded to fit the contour of the dash, and provide a nice mounting area for the vents and controls.

I plan to use Southern Air Superfrost by Southern Rods, very good prices and systems look top notch. Google them and check their site out.

Re: guys with ac in their trucks
I'll get some photo's tomorrow. Robno's post makes me feel a lot better. He say's the Gen 3 is the way to go. I used a factory A-6 comp. & a cond. from a small car. It works real good. I'd like to have more fan speeds.

Re: guys with ac in their trucks
I'm going with the Superfrost kit $300 cheaper that the Maxi1, that's the differance.
I'm getting the unit $200; condensor $92; and dryer $79. |

I am putting in Vintage Air sure fit for the TF. Here are two trial fit photos to show how far it hangs down and intrudes into the glove box. I just got the under dash unit, I am going to buy a Sanderson compressor and condenser. I am still working on how to run the lines. You can see in the one photo where I marked where VA wants you to run the lines. I am going to get them tucked up higher and into the fender side of the inner fender panel. I am also looking at a different way to run and mount the outlet grilles.
