frame rust!
 

Just got under my truck to check out what I need when I get around to replacing the trailing arms, and I found out the frame area where the spring and clamp attach to is rusted through on the right side. :(

My thinking is, first, does anybody sell frame pieces that can be welded in? If not, can I just take a piece of 1/4" steel under there and weld up the frame?

1/4 is pretty big// you can cut back to where the steel is solid and weld a patch in but make sure you make a template with referance marks before cutting //i normally used 3/16 or 1/8

Occasionally board members will cut patch sections from donor frames and sell them in the classifieds section also. Here is an example:

i had the same problem with my frame and i got the section of frame from bills truck shop.I just braced the frame with stock angle steel,cut out the bad and fit and welded in the new piece
